New Ericcson Digital Equipment No Longer Available

With the phase-out of Ericcson Digital Telephone System and the phase-in of the new CISCO VoIP Telephone System, new digital telephone instruments are no longer available for installation. Voice Mail Notification Form Available

A campus voice mail notification request form is now available. This service allows an employee to receive campus voice mail notifications be sent to a cellular device, University pager, or an e-mail account as a text message or call back to alert that a voice message as been left in a campus voice mail box.   [Apr 2008]

New Web VPN Service Now Available

A new Web VPN service is now available. This web-based VPN connection allows off-campus computers to connect to ISU electronic resources (ie: departmental file shares) through web browsers (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox).   [Oct 2007]

Campus Telephone Quickstart Guides Now Available

There are two campus telephone quickstart guides available in both printed copy and on the University Computer Help Desk web site. You can obtain printed copies at either the University Computer Help Desk office in Julian Hall room 115, or from the Telecommunications and Networking office located in Williams Hall Annex room 105.

The "Campus Telephone System Quickstart" booklet covers voice mail usage as well as the digital phone usage (Ericcson MD110). The "VoIP Quick Start" booklet covers VoIP phone usage as well as customizing the VoIP Phone (the voicemail system is independent of the telephone system, and therefore voicemail information can be found in the other guide).   [Sep 2009]

Cellular Telephone Discounts for Departments

Cellular telephones for departmental use can be purchased from the State of Illinois contract with VerizonWireless. Grid sheets showing cellular models and features, accessory lists, and package plan information can be obtained by e-mailing or by calling 8-8728 or 8-8734. To take advantage of the State contract's discounted pricing, the Cellular Service Request Form must be submitted.   [Nov 2005]

Cellular Telephone Discounts for Employees

Illinois State University employees are offered discounts for personal-use cellular telephones through the State of Illinois contract with VerizonWireless. The State of Illinois and Local Government Employees flyer shows available packages for State employees, and the discounts cover most calling plans of $34.99 or higher including primary lines of SharePlans. To be eligible for State discounts, Illinois State employees must contact the University-assigned VerizonWireless contact person, Tysa Mueller, either via e-mail or by calling 217-622-5813.
