Internet Connectivity

Internet connectivity for ISUnet is provided through a pair of circuits from two separate Internet Service Providers (ISPs) - Cogent Communications and the ICN (Illinois Century Network). Internet traffic is balanced over both circuits. By using two ISPs, the University can continue to maintain Internet service should one of these Internet circuits fail.

In addition to these two ISPs, the University maintains a separate circuit through I-WIRE (Illinois Wired Infrastructure for Research and Education) to support access to a variety of networks such as Internet2 and many other national and international research networks.
