Important Notice!

Automatic Callback

Automatically retries busy on campus numbers or on campus numbers that do not answer. 

To activate: When the called number is busy or does not answer, press 6. Listen for confirmation tone and hang up. When the called number is available, the system will ring your telephone (interrupted fast ring). You must answer before the ringing stops (eight seconds) and your call will be automatically placed. If automatic callback is not allowed against a number, you will not hear a confirmation tone. 

To cancel: Press #6# and hang up.

Call Waiting (from off-campus)

Notifies you when an off campus caller is attempting to reach you while you are on the telephone. 

To answer: When you hear the call waiting tone (2 short beeps) hang up the first call and the second call will ring through or press 2 to answer the second call and place the original call on hold. You may then press 2 to move from call to call.

Call Waiting (from a residence hall room)

Notifies you if someone in another residence hall room is trying to reach you and has sent you a call waiting tone while you are on the telephone. 

To answer: When you hear the call waiting tone (1 short beep) hang up the first call and the second call will ring through or press 2 to answer the second call and place the original call on hold. You may then press 2 to move from call to call.

Send Call Waiting (used between residence hall rooms)

Allows you to send a call waiting tone to a busy residence hall room telephone to let the person know that a call is waiting. Call waiting tones cannot be sent to administrative or faculty telephone numbers. 

To activate: When calling another residence hall room if the called number is busy press 5. The busy signal will then change to a ringing tone. You should then wait on the line to see if the other person will answer your call. 

To cancel: If the person you are calling does not respond to the call waiting tone simply hang up and try the call later or activate automatic call back by pressing 6 as described above.

Data Privacy

Allows you to block all call waiting tones during computer modem usage. 

To activate: Lift your telephone handset and press *41#. Then enter the telephone number of the data source you want to call. 

To cancel: Hang up your telephone or depress your telephone hook switch.

Distinctive Ringing

The telephone system provides a unique pattern of telephone ringing that allow you to distinguish between different types of incoming calls. 

Three types of ring signals are provided: 

  • Single Ring - On Campus Call 

  • Double Ring - Off Campus Call 

  • Interrupted Fast Ring - Callback

Last Number Redial (for off-campus calls only)

Allows you to automatically call back the last off campus number or long distance number entered from your telephone. 

To activate: Lift the handset and press ***. The last off campus number called will be automatically recalled. 

To cancel: This feature cannot be canceled and will continue to store the last off campus number called.

IT IS A VIOLATION OF UNIVERSITY POLICY TO ACCEPT COLLECT CALLS OR TO BILL CALLS TO UNIVERSITY TELEPHONE NUMBERS.
