Telephone ServicesLong Distance ServicesResidence Hall Students (personal use)Residence hall students will need to use a personal calling card or prepaid calling card to place long distance calls from residence hall telephones. All calling cards must have a toll-free access number. Prepaid calling cards may be purchased from vending machines in the residence hall lobby areas of Walker, Atkin-Colby, Haynie, Hewett and Watterson Towers. Residence hall students may also use personal cellular telephones to place long distance calls and campus convenience telephones may be used to place calls to toll-free numbers. Faculty/Staff (business use)Long distance authorization codes and calling cards for faculty and staff may be requested in writing by the Budget Officer (fiscal agent) of the account that the calls will be charged to. The request should be sent to Telecommunications and Networking, Campus Box 3500 and should include the individual's UID number, the individual's phone number, and the account number. (Please fill out the on-line form, then print, and send.) University departments may restrict the use of University telephones or fax machines for personal calls or the use of personal cellular telephones while at work based on the operational needs of the department.
